After a year of planning, soliciting submissions, and sifting through the slush pile, I can say it's been both a privilege and a learning experience co-editing my first anthology! This unique collection of poetry and prose is a partnership between longtime Toronto artist organization Workman Arts, and our amazing US-based publisher, Strangers in a Tangled Wilderness. We received a wide spectrum of submissions, and I'm excited to share this selection of new and established writers with the world. Publication is set for November, and the launch party is sure to be a memorable one.
Check out some of our advance praise blurbs:
"A searing, visceral cry of love, rage, and liberation, UpRising is raw and unflinching, a luminous chorus of the walking wounded and kintsugi in the form of poetry. This collection celebrates mad pride with unbridled honesty and authenticity."
--Rachel A. Rosen, author of Cascade and Blight.
“When writers have fallen outside of ordinary reality and kept their eyes open the whole time, this is the sort of mind-expanding prose and poetry that they can bring back with them.”
––Nick Walker, author of Neuroqueer Heresies
" For those of us who have lived with mental illness and addiction, this book feels like home; these authors, a family."
- Jessica Bebenek, author of No One Knows Us There
